“There is no substitute for the feeling you get when you are driving your Porsche. My wife and I took European delivery of our 911 Turbo Cabriolet in late May. The delivery experience was amazing as we thoroughly enjoyed the factory tour, gourmet lunch and Porsche museum in Stuttgart. However, what made it the most memorable of vacations was the driving experience.

We left Stuttgart and drove to Italy, spending several nights in Tuscany. The drive on the autobahn and autostrada were fantastic as we drove throughout the Swiss Alps and Italian countryside. Even better was the drive through the winding roads of Tuscany, with the top down, as we traveled from Siena to wineries that had been recommended. The road took us across ridges, through valleys and several small towns. As memorable as the drive was the reaction that we received to our Porsche. From the man in Siena who stopped in the cross walk and stared, blocking our way for several minutes, to the three boys playing soccer who cheered as we passed, we knew we were driving something special.

From the hills of Tuscany we traveled to the streets of Monaco. The twisting road down the mountain to Monaco highlighted the handling of the 911. As we passed in front of the Casino in Monaco, we became aware of the pass time of photographing exotic cars as we drove through the square, and were captured on film by passersby.

Finally, we drove from Monaco to the shores of Lake Como. The narrow winding roads a welcome change from the speeds of the autostrada. We took the photo of the car at Lake Como before heading back to Stuttgart.

As we wait for the car to arrive from Europe, we know there is no substitute for the feeling of driving a Porsche.” – Scott A.
